"The Andalusian seems the incarnation of the myth of the unicorn - a mystically beautiful thing with a gentle soul and the fire and the courage of a warrior."

SPANISH HORSE MAGIC
The Pura Raza EspaƱola (PRE) or Spanish Horses are often called Andalusians in North America. The breed is an ancient one, originating on the Iberian peninsula in what we now call Spain. Throughout history they were highly acclaimed war horses, prized for their speed, agility and calm temperament. The blood of the Spanish Horse flows through many of the breeds of the modern horses of today. Spanish Horses first came to North America with Christopher Columbus, and the royalty of Spain continued to send Spanish Horses to the colonies for centuries.
Over the past century, horse sport events have been dominated by European warmblood horses, but now, Spanish Horses are making a comeback. Recent successes at World Cup and Olympic competitions are helping the Spanish Horse regain its former status as the most sought after horse in the world. They are gaining in popularity as people rediscover their strength and athletic ability, and their amazing temperament. Spanish Horses are a hardy breed, existing on simple diets and they are often athletic well into their twenties. These fabulous horses are loyal and steady with an incredible intelligence and willingness to learn and work with you. Add to that a horse which is brave and calm and you have a horse that can go anywhere with you and try anything for you. Now add in a sense of humour - and you have a Spanish horse!
Spanish Horses: loyal, loving, athletic. The perfect companion.
